  6. Water works on Lehigh River near Bethlehem, Pa.?
The photograph has no caption or writing to identify the location. It is obvious that it is a ""waterworks"" building and the gentlemen's attire suggest that it is circa 1890-1900. There are some undergraduate theses written in that time period and published student articles describing the waterworks in Bethlehem and South Bethlehem but none of these publications have any exterior photograph of the structure, and unfortunately, neither one of the Bethlehem waterworks exists today. This one is probably the one on the Lehigh River, South Side of Bethlehem (the one on the North was on Monocacy Creek) and the piece of land on the river is Calypso Island which doesn't exists anymore. According to the maps and some published work, there used to be a water reservoir somewhere close to St. Luke's Hospital and it seems that this structure on the picture was pumping water to that reservoir to be distributed.
