When one considers that this book contains over 32,000 items of distinct information, all compiled and brought into shape for ready reference, it will perhaps be surprising how few errors are manifest. The miscellaneous data classed as Appendix has been arranged with some degree of system instead of being loosely scattered. The Street Guide -- pages 65-142 -- is an entirely new feature here and its utility will be evident to every business man. The total number of houses given is 5930, divided as follows: Bethlehem, 1889; South Bethlehem and Fountain Hill, 2983; West Bethlehem 864, and Bethlehem Heights, 194. The General Directory contains 13,143 names, and to these are added the names of 4,839 wives, making a grand total of 17,982 names. These 13,143 names are divided as follows: Bethlehem, 3975; South Bethlehem and Fountain Hill, 6292; West Bethlehem, 1532; Bethlehem Heights, 279; Northampton Heights, 123, and non-residents employed in the Bethlehems, 651.   157. Lehigh Valley Voices [videorecording] : Salvatore Poidomani
    Salvatore ""Sal"" Poidomani grew up in an orphanage in upstate New York. After leaving the orphanage, Poidomani worked several jobs, however, the day after Pearl Harbor was attacked he enlisted in the military. After the war, he found his birth father and learned about the fate of his mother. Poidomani met his wife in Atlantic City in 1949 and married in 1950. After a career in construction, Poidomani leased Pat's Spaghetti House from Pat DeMilio in 1977 and changed the name to Sal's Spaghetti House. The restaurant, which was located on North 6th Street in Allentown, Pa. was a fixture of the city's dining scene until Poidomani retired and closed the restaurant in 1988. Poidomani talks about his relationships with the restaurant's employees, the people who dined there, and the restaurant's closing. The restaurant was demolished in 2008. This documentary is part of Lehigh Valley Voices, an oral history project that captures memories of life and work in Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton, Pennsylvania.

Weaver describes how the Bethlehem Steel affected the South Side and the businesses located there. She talks about some of these South Side businesses, such as the South Side market, the movie theater and other shops on Third Street. Lastly, Weaver discusses talks about the camaraderie between Bethlehem Steel co-workers as well as the strike of 1941 and its effect on the employees and the communty.

    This is an interview with Delia Diaz, a resident of South Bethlehem. In this interview, Diaz talks about her memories of coming to America from Puerto Rico, specifically South Bethlehem. She discusses the various homes that her family lived in on the South Side when she was growing up, her father's career at the Bethlehem Steel, her education and the social groups that she belonged to. Diaz also talks about how she is currently involved with the community, discussing her position working for the Democratic Leadership Office as well as detailing her involvement with other political organizations. She goes on to discuss how she believes the South Side has changed over the years, how the Bethlehem Steel affected the community during its operation and how the community changed after its closing, and describes the relationship between Lehigh University and the South Side and how they are working together to better the community.

    This yearbook, created in 1878, compiles historical and statical information about Northampton County, Bethlehem, and South Bethlehem. The information found in this yearbook includes facts such as county and borough financial statements, population, a listing of the names of county officials, local landmarks and churches, county and borough public works departments, etc. This book also includes a calendar for 1879, which details various cycles in the year, such as the seasons, eclipses, and dates for upcoming holidays in that year. A calendar tracking the sunrise, sunset, moon set and moon's phases for every day in 1879 is tabulated as well.
