              [newspaper clipping]
On Tuesday a fire broke out on the premises of Mr Saunders,
carver and gilder, in Foley street. Mr Saunders, jun., who was
sleeping on the third floor back, managed to escape, much cut and
bruised, on to the roof. When the flames were sufficiently subdued
to enable the house to be entered, Mrs Saunders was found lying on
the front floor third pair, suffocated and lifeless. Mr Saunders was
found in the third floor back, nearly suffocated, and is now at St
Thomass Hospital in a precarious state.
