Grace dont want to go. She sat and
read one of Cobbs stories as they journeyed through
some of the most beautiful scenery, last year made
Jim so mad! says Mrs Edwards.
  12. Friday. Drawing. Down town after
dinner to Century and Pic Offices, returning Bowery
way. Cahill in Guns room at night. He is
filling Haneys place on the Courier during the formers
absence and dont seem to love a hard days work.
  Wrote letter to Hannah.
  13. Saturday. Drawing and writing: out to
Spring St Post Office. To Century Office after
dinner, to P.O. returned per omnibus. To draw-
ing again till 8. Shepherd up in Guns room.
  14. Sunday. Drawing, reading &c; Cahill up,
principally in Guns room. Out with him after din-
ner, with intent to go to the Central Park but the
cars looked so crowded that we abandoned the idea
for a loafing along the riverside wharfs, where we
saw policemen taking away the clothes of boys who were
bathing. Return. With Morris to Palace Garden
in the evening, met Perkins, a nephew of Everetts, and
another. Gun and Cahill drinking in the formers
room, which they kept up till 4 A. M. I leaving
them at midnight, considerably drunk then. Theres
no hope whatever of reforming Cahill, relieved from
temporary necessity he is as rudderless as ever.
15.	Monday. Chores &c. Down town to Century
