	Lotty Again.     Dick Bolton.
to Broadway with her.   She said she had
been down south on a visit, had let her house
and was now boarding with the occupants. �Julia�
worked at the Bible-house, was going to have
my old attic at $4 per week, she, Lotty,
paying $1 of the sum, to assist her.   She
told me furthermore, that half a dozen of her
admirers wanted to marry her �knowing she
was a married woman.�   �Why don�t you do
another bigamy?� I asked.         We parted at a
Daguerrotype shop, into which she entered.
Back.      Dick up.      Down town with him and
a Canadian acquaintance, to Harper�s, Wall
St. &c.     Passed Nichols.   To Nick-nax and
Haney�s Offices, Bellew and Haney at the lat-
ter.    All out to Crook and Duff�s.          Off with
Dick and his friend to Staten Island, dining
by the Battery.      Day very hot and beautiful.
Witnessed a boat-race.      Returning took a swim
in the Washington Bath, off the Battery.    Up town.
Damoreau came in the evening and I turned
out with him.    Into Pfaff�s, and were presently
driven out by Bank�s insufferable jabber, anon
to the Hone House.    Leaving Charley I stop-
ped at 745, talked awhile to pater and mater-
familias on the stoop (the night overpoweringly
sultry) then descended to the basement, where I
