  From the first, Tuesday, to the fourth, Fri-
day, inclusive.  I have but a fragmentary record
of these four days, jotted down, rather confusedly
on leaves torn from a note-book, hence I can
hardly discriminate the details of each day with
perfect accuracy, though by the aid of the brief
entries and my memory, I think I can recall
most of the events.       On New Years day, then, I
took a walk with Colt, down town, where he
called at certain stores.  Leaving him I went
to the Consulate, to pay my respects to Bunch.
