194 It was all bosh about the impecunious John Brougham having a theatre built in London. He was playing at the Princess�s, for Bourcicault in 1863, when I renewed my acquaintance with him, at a tavern, after a night�s per- formance. Bourcicault had the Adelphi for awhile and, when producing The Octoroon displayed both the Union and Confederate flags over the theatre. The wily little beggar also printed the Latin motto of �Trojan and Tyrian are to me the same,� on the lop of his play- bills.
