Magruder�s 7,000 or 12,000 men.    Mc Clellan
had, certainly, over 200,000, � I believe considera-
bly more � though he lied about the numbers, as he
did about everything.                At the news of the
evacuation, Hall hurried off to Bement, to bor-
row a horse, and I, riding, with Edge walking,
went over to Mc Clellan�s headquarters, I being very
