  17. Sunday.  Drew portrait on wood for Lockington.  Waud
down stairs at work on the old portrait.    Dined together at Clem�s

posed.   Together to Sweeneys for supper, then a stroll up the
Bowery, talking anent this queer half solitary life, of bachelor-
hood and whether a home will ever be for either of us.   Met
the two boy Andersons, prowling about, with ferret looks and air of
precocious astuteness.         /         Called at Royals, and he coming
