30. Thursday. Drawing. Dillon came, for the
fishing lines, he, Hart, Miller &c off for a
Steam Excursion to the �Fishing Banks.� Waud called.
/ Down town by 1. Picayune Office, Journal Office.
Sold drawing at the latter. $4. Strong�s. Dined
at Goslings. Picayune Office again & Wells & Webb.
Met Hardin Andrews. Back to room. Supped at
7, and an oppressive sultry day ending in thunder, lightning
and rain, had to tarry till the storm had partially spent
its fury; then through the frequent violet-hued glare of the
lighting and rain pools to my room. Wrote letter to my
Mother.
July.
1. Friday. Drawing &c, all the morning. Mr
Hart called. Brotherhead called. Afternoon came Dillon,
and I, out with him to Catherine Street, pants pur-
chasing. He parting, a thunder storm occurred. I
drawing till 9 1/2 then to Erfords for supper. Found Mr
Hart there; anon Waud came. Walked to the Jersey
Ferry with Mr Hart, then to room, books & bed.
