forth for the latters residence, when Waud appeared. He, with Hayes
had just arrived by the Pacific. So after going to the vessel, seeing
about their baggage &c, we all walk, Logan, & young Bailey (the
Doctors son,) accompanying us across the island roads to where the boats
lay. By quiet paths, bordered by heath and juniper, where on either
the side, the sloping hillsides and greensward, bright in the golden sunlight,

being dead ahead, we got back to Mackinac by 8; Hayes & Waud
going with Logan, (with whom theyll board,) and we to the Hospital.
