Personne [Wilkins, Edward G. P.]. "Dramatic Feuilleton." New York Saturday Press. 17 Dec. 1859: 3.
Type: newspaper ; Genre: theater criticism
Abstract
Personne discusses the recent events and disputes at the Winter Garden between Bourcicault and Le Chauvre. He lists the "decrees" made by the management to settle matters and remarks later that the public may never get the full story about what's going on at the theater. Personne also reviews the performance of The Octoroon that immediately followed the management's decrees. Personne gives the general opera news, the news of the theater in Philadelphia, and mentions that nothing new has been produced in the past week in New York. Personne mentions that the Academy of Music was wanted this week for a Union meeting; Personne notes that affairs seem desparate when the opera managers become the Union Savers. The Feuilleton is followed by a letter from Mrs. Agnes Robertson Bourcicault to the Editor of the Herald about her "withdrawal" from the Winter Garden.
