Abstract: Kefauver expresses his regret to hear that Walter is leaving Congress, and apprises Walter of the "high personal esteem" he has for him. Kefauver served in the Senate from 1949 to 1963, and is best remembered for his work with the Kefauver Committee to investigate organized crime. The recipient of the letter, Francis E. Walter, served in World War II and as a Representative from Pennsylvania in the seventy-third and fifteen succeeding Congresses, serving from 1933 until his death May 31, 1963. Walter also acted as chairman of the Committee on Un-American Activities.
