For: [Letter] [n.d.] / Rob[ert] Fulton.

My dear Sir,

I am going to Washington tomorrow morning
With some hope to get the patent laws amended
as to protect mental property or diminish
Lawsuits. you will much oblige me by a letter
or letters to any of your influential friends
who are friendly to science and the
Improvements of our country. I know W-L Loyd, but to W Denny [?] and
Quincy an Introduction is necessary.
You will please not to mention this project of mine. I will have
the pleasure of calling on you this
evening
Respectfuly [sic] your most
Obedient Rob. Fulton
